At first glance, it looks like someone is pressure-washing a live circuit board. But this isn’t ordinary water. ⚡
While powered-off circuit boards can often be cleaned with water and then thoroughly dried before reuse, live electronic systems require a completely different approach.
In critical environments such as aerospace equipment, industrial control systems, and large data centers, shutting down electronics for cleaning isn’t always possible.
Instead, engineers use a special non-conductive cleaning fluid called Hydrofluoroether (HFE). Because it doesn’t conduct electricity, it can safely remove dust and contaminants from energized electronic components without causing a short circuit.
It’s an impressive example of materials engineering and electronics working together to keep mission-critical systems running safely and reliably.
